Classes 1
Before registering for a class at 2 B's Quilt Shop, we invite you over to talk with us about the upcoming course you're interested in. Registration must be made within 7 days before the first class begins. Classes are held on Tuesdays in the mornings and afternoons and last about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Many students stay after class to continue with the sewing and socialize with other classmates.
You must bring your own sewing machine to class and you will have to purchase the supplies for each course - they are not included in the class pricing. Average class size usually runs about 5 students. Expect to make some dear friends as you move through the classes together. Remember, quilting with a friend will keep you in stitches.

Quilting for Beginners

Our Quilting Class for Beginners runs an average of seven weeks and is for anyone who has little to no understanding of quilting.

We'll start you off by teaching you all the basics you need to learn to build a foundation of knowledge that will stick with you the rest of your quilting life! You'll have less frustration if you learn how to quilt correctly before you put needle and thread to fabric and batting. Lessons include how to choose the right fabrics for each project and how to care for your sewing machine. Most importantly, you'll be schooled in The 3 P's of Quilting - Pinning, Pressing, and Patience.

At the end of the course you will have created 6 different quilt blocks, each one featuring a unique quilting technique, and these blocks will be used to make your first quilt in the Advanced Quilting Class.

Intermediate Quilting Class

In our Intermediate Quilting Class we begin to build on the skills you learned in the Beginning Class that you just completed. Now that you have the basic quilting skills under your belt, it is time to develop those skills into more complex techniques that are challenging, but rewarding in the final product you produce.

Straight lines and squared corners must be mastered, but now we move into turns and curves! Don't fret, we'll teach you all the tricks. At the end of this course, which lasts about six weeks, you will have added to your block assortment another six different samples to grow your collection to 12 quilt blocks - well on your way to creating the final project, your first quilt. You're just one course away from completion!

Advanced Quilting Class

In this last part of our three-part quilting class series we begin with teaching you the final advanced quilting techniques - including the correct way to sew Y-Seams. You will create six more different quilt blocks using the skills you learn in the Advance Quilting course and then you will create two more additional blocks on your own at home. This will bring your total block collection to 20.

Now we're ready to make a quilt! We'll instruct you in sashing (adding the strips of fabric used to frame each block) and borders. Then it's time to cut the batting and backing fabrics and bind all the layers together. At that point quilts can be tied or quilted to hold the layers in place and keep them from shifting.

Congratulations on your first finished quilt!
